The current situation derived from the COVID-19 crisis we have experienced has led most companies to improve their technical assistance processes and procedures to be more efficient and give more added value to their clients without the need to travel in order to carry out the work in person.
Traditionally, companies in the ceramic sector have had an unquestionable international vision. This has caused that for a long time, the technicians of the sector in Spain have been travelling to other countries around the world to help and support their customers. However, the closing of borders has not only stopped exports, but also the technical assistance provided by these professionals.
But the ceramic industry has always known how to adapt rapidly to changes, seeking solutions to the problems that appeared along the way.
A clear example of this are the suppliers of ceramic inks and glazes, most of which have stop their activity due to not being able to go out and assist their clients, although, some of them, such as those who collaborate with Digit-S, have not been so affected because of having a color management system synchronized with their customers.
According to Alejandro MartÃn, CEO of Digit-S: “Digit-S’s presence in more than 10 countries around the world has meant that all our technological solutions have been developed to make remote work for a long time. Thanks to our Color Management software, KROME Ceramics, ink suppliers have been able to continue giving support to their customersâ€. He also considers that: “the implementation of control systems for existing digital production processes is already possible, and it´s something that is helping companies to improve the technical assistance to their customers and to be more efficient”.
Digit-S’s Color Management software allows, among other advantages, the synchronization of inkjet machines thanks to the Decorative Modules, a system that takes the colorimetric information of a production process as a reference and allows to produce the same design by different machines without the need to make adjustments, providing greater flexibility to the plant, optimizing resources and product development times. Once these Decorative Modules have been created, the software analyzes the color deviations of the machines creating one file for each of them, maintaining the original tone of the design.
With this system, the suppliers for inks and glazes have been able to synchronize the company’s plotter with the inkjet machines of their clients around the world, which has made that the designers and technicians could carry out most of the assistance at home, and send the final designs to the customers taking the same result.
